Sei Leva

(composed  by Dr. Grant Muāgututiʻa)

Moʻomoʻoga e o loʻu agāga mo ʻoe loʻu au

Manogi sasala mai mauga e puaina i oʻu māfaufau

Neʻi taunuʻu le ʻupu ʻua faʻafua ʻae lē fati

Fai ʻoe ma oʻu sei (si ou lālelei)

Laʻu fuga o lāʻau (sautia i le sau)

ʻUa naʻo ʻoe lava (laʻu pele Sāmoa)

Seʻi ʻe maliu mai

My soul longs for you my love

Your fragrance from the mountains fills my thoughts

Lest the saying be true, initiated but never fulfilled

Be my sei (that which is your beauty)

My blossom (dampened by the mountain mist)

It is only you (my darling of Sāmoa)

I beckon you

Sau ʻoe, si oʻu sei leva

Come, my Sei Leva,

Na i tumutumu o atu mauga

That resides in the mountain uplands

ʻUa sulugia ou fōliga i ʻave o le māsina

You are illuminated by moon beams

Tupu aʻe ʻoe i ala o le vavau

As you bloom along the ancient paths

Ta te moemiti i le sasala o lou manogi

Your fragrance visits me in my dreams

Tali:

Chorus:

E ʻoʻona ʻo nai ou lau lāʻau,

Your leaves carry a formidable potency

ʻA ʻo lou lālelei ʻo le sini o le tuʻinanau

But your beauty is the pinnacle of longing

E olaola mai ʻoe i aso ʻua leva

You have endured since days long gone

ʻAe tūmau pea i le loto e

But remain cherished by all

Si oʻu sei leva

My Sei Leva

ʻO ʻoe si oʻu sei leva

You, my Sei Leva,

Le vai fofō i nai oʻu tīgā

Are the cure to all ailments

ʻUa mapu mai i mafatiaga i le tepa tasi ʻi ou fofoga

I find rest with just one glance of your countenance

Tautua ʻoe i le vasa loloa

You have long served the vast ocean

ʻO ʻoe ʻo le fua e matala i le alofa

You are the flower that blooms out of love
